
Community Organizer
Tonya Somesh serves as a Community Organizer at the South Asian Network (SAN), where she brings a deep passion for justice, equity, and community-centered advocacy. She studied Liberal Studies with concentrations in Economics and Sociology at California State University, Fullerton, and pursued graduate coursework in Human Rights in Vienna, Austria, further enriching her global understanding of social justice.
At SAN, Tonya is committed to advancing educational equity, protecting children’s rights, and promoting gender equality. Her work is grounded in a strong belief in the transformative power of community and the importance of creating inclusive spaces where all voices are heard and valued.
Beyond her organizing work, Tonya cherishes time with her family and friends and finds creative expression through all forms of art—whether reading, painting, theater, or film. She is honored to contribute to SAN’s mission and to support the South Asian community in building a more just and liberated future.
