Program Manager – Community Health Action Initiative
For nearly two decades, Nina has been actively working within the South Asian community in Southern California. Born in Bangladesh, Nina attained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her work within the Bangladeshi community residing in Los Angeles County has focused on outreach and education regarding domestic violence and health.
For years she has provided clients with translation services in both Bangla and Hindi. Nina has worked extensively within the community, providing her expertise in case management for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking and child abuse. Nina has been active in the lives of older adult community members, assisting with Welfare, SSI, disability, home support services, and Medicare enrollment. Her work in the Community Health Action Initiative (CHAI) program at South Asian Network since 2002 revolved around assisting clients from low income families in enrolling in health insurance such as Medi-Cal and later Covered California.
