CHAI Intern
Saleena Dhakal is currently an intern for the CHAI unit. She is a fourth year at the University of California, Irvine where she studies Sociology and Social Policy and Public Service. She immigrated from Kathmandu, Nepal. She has always been passionate about learning about and serving the South Asian community, especially women.
At UCI, she works as a Volunteer Activities Coordinator under the Office of Campus Organizations and Volunteer programs where she assists the planning and executing of the department’s volunteer activities and programs by collaborating with local nonprofit organizations.
As a CHAI intern, Saleena assists the team with client intakes, supporting clients with applications for public benefits, and collecting client stories for SAN’s database. In addition to that, she is also conducting research on the factors that influence the empowerment of South Asian immigrant women.
