
Community Organizer
Rimon Hossain is a dedicated public policy professional with nearly half a decade of experience in government affairs and policy research. As a Community Organizer with SAN’s Little Bangladesh office, he spearheads initiatives including legislative outreach, tenant organizing, immigrant rights and hosting teach-ins in order to make sure community needs are met.
Between working as a congressional staffer, conducting research for academic institutes and think tanks, as well as his own publication endeavors, he brings valuable experience to SAN’s Citizenship & Civic Engagement (CCE) Unit. He previously led the State Department portfolio with the Office of U.S. Senator Alex Padilla, where he assisted many Californians and their families with their immigration concerns. He works as a Research Assistant with the Middle East Institute’s Program on Strategic Technologies & Cybersecurity and is a current Young Leader with the Pacific Forum. As a graduate student at UCLA, he conducted workforce development research for Kaiser Permanente & Building Skills Partnerships to address healthcare benefits utilization among union workers employed as janitors, airport workers & security guards.
Rimon leverages his domestic & international policy expertise to SAN, advocating for equitable policies at the local, state and federal level. He completed his undergraduate at UC Berkeley and Masters of Public Policy from UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. He is an Editor with the Bengal Gazette, which is the first student-run South Asian publication at UC Berkeley founded in 2018 and serves as a global grassroots publication today.
