Khadija is the Mental health Intern at South Asian Network. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Social Work with a certification in Trauma Responsive Care from the University of Kentucky. She speaks Urdu and is deeply connected to her South Asian roots. Khadija is passionate about destigmatizing mental health care in the South Asian community and hopes to decolonize healing through practices rooted in South Asian culture. Prior to joining SAN Khadija received a Master of Arts in Teaching from University of Southern California and worked as an elementary school teacher at a Title 1 school serving the BIPOC community in Riverside where she helped students with social and emotional development through culturally responsive and trauma informed teaching. She hopes to cultivate healing within the South Asian community through trauma responsive and cultural healing practices; build resistance through hope; support access to liberatory mental health education; and fight against oppressive systems. In her free time she enjoys relaxing through baking south asian inspired desserts, writing poetry and painting.
