Dear SAN Supporter,
The South Asian Network does not endorse political parties. However, we are fiercely protective of the rights and dignity of the South Asian community we serve in Southern California. This includes, but is not limited to, new immigrants, residents who are undocumented, survivors of sexual assault, and the uninsured. We abide by a strong belief that no one – absolutely no one – should be discriminated against or bullied because of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability or faith. These are the values that have defined us for 26 years – and we will stand up to anyone who threatens to violate them.
We, like so many Americans, were stunned by the election results on Tuesday night. The potential impact on South Asians living in Southern California is enormous. We realize that many of you are scared, uncertain about your future, and have many questions and doubts about your place in this country.
Please know that this is your country and you DO belong.
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU.
We will continue to provide services that empower and serve the South Asian community, including:
- Counseling on citizenship and immigrant rights
- Guidance on health insurance, including Covered California enrollment
- Support for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence
Our team is gearing up for a long fight ahead. But, we will need your help to meet the increasing demands for our services. Please consider supporting us with a donation – our work couldn’t be more urgent than it is now.
Over the next weeks and months, we will be organizing discussions in various neighborhoods in the greater Los Angeles area to address the concerns of our community. We welcome your feedback.
If you or your family have any questions or concerns, or are in need of our services, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 562-403-0488 ext. 100. In the meantime, please stay vigilant and safe. If you have been harassed or feel threatened, contact us immediately.
We must support each other during this difficult and uncertain time in our country. Together, we shall overcome.
