It has been a great honor and privilege to serve as the Executive Director of South Asian Network (SAN) for the past five and a half years. In that time, I have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful community members and clients as well as our dedicated volunteers, including our Council of Advisors and Board of Directors, and, of course, our truly amazing staff. I have learned so much in my time at SAN and am in constant awe of the generosity and community spirit of all of those with whom I have come into contact.
I am so proud of SAN’s accomplishments, which have created lasting impact in our community. Highlights include the following:
- Recognized as a White House Champion of Change in April 2014
- Secured articles featuring SAN in national news outlets such as LA Times, PRI’s The World and Marketplace as well as state and local press
Provided services to approximately 8,500 individuals in the following ways—outreach on and enrollment in Covered CA, patient navigation, citizenship assistance, ESL classes on civics, case management on domestic violence, sexual assault workshops, voter registration and mental health services for children, adults and seniors.
To continue this legacy, I believe we must cultivate the next generation of leaders in the South Asian community. It is for this reason, the SAN Board of Directors has established the Manjusha P. Kulkarni Leadership Fund. In doing so, it is my hope to strengthen our SAYLS (South Asian Youth Leadership Seminar) and SAWL (South Asian Women Lead!) programs.
As I leave SAN, I hope you will join me in supporting this fund, which will have a lasting legacy on the organization and the South Asian community in Southern California. Donations can be made by clicking here or by contacting SAN at (502) 403-0488, ext.100.
Dhanyavad. Shukriya, Dhonnobad. Thank you.
Manjusha P. Kulkarni, Esq.
