As the 12th anniversary of 9/11 draws closer, South Asian Network and API-Equality, Los Angeles join together to take a look at escalating Islamophobia across the nation.

Hundreds of Muslims as well as individuals of South Asian origin continue to be victims of discrimination, hate crimes and speech as well as ongoing government surveillance. The intolerance and suspicion targeting these groups parallels what LGBTQ individuals experience when faced by homophobia.

Join us at for a panel discussion on September 10th, to discuss what can be done to support queer Muslims in confronting oppression based on both religion and sexual orientation. We will be joined by Tanzila Ahmed (Voter Engagement Manager at Asian Americans Advancing Justice), Ani Zonneveld (singer, songwriter, and President of Muslims for Progressive Values), and Naveed Merchant (Islamic and LGBT activist).
